Collate

Merge images and PDFs into one PDF. Right on your Mac.

Drop, reorder, done

Drag in any mix of images and PDFs, or pick them from the file picker. Rearrange pages in a list or a gallery, rotate what’s sideways, pull a page range out of a long PDF, and undo anything.

The order you see is the PDF you get.

Handles the awkward files

Hit a password-protected PDF? Collate asks for the password, unlocks it, and merges it like any other file — no separate tool, no re-saving it somewhere else first.

Dropped in a 40-page scan? It folds into a single tidy row you can expand when you want to, so one long PDF never buries everything else.

Searchable, not just stitched

Optional OCR turns scanned images into searchable, selectable text (requires macOS 26). Pages from existing PDFs keep their real text and vectors — they’re never flattened into pixels.

Mixing an A4 contract with a Letter invoice and a phone photo? Turn on Normalize Page Sizes and every page comes out one uniform size, scaled and centered, still perfectly sharp. Need a smaller file? Pick a compression level — it never touches OCR accuracy.

Fits into your Mac

Select files in Finder, right-click, and choose Services › Send to Collate. They land in the app in the order you picked them, ready to merge.

Prefer to automate it? The Merge Files action in Shortcuts merges, OCRs, compresses and normalizes without ever opening a window.

Nothing leaves your Mac

Collate has no network access, no analytics, and no accounts. It's sandboxed, and every step — import, OCR, compression, export — happens on your device using Apple's own frameworks.

Something broken, or a file Collate won’t merge? Email contact@wasseem.dev and include the macOS version and, if you can, the file that caused it. I reply to everything.

Requires macOS 15 or later. Making scans searchable with OCR requires macOS 26.
