Privacy Policy for Notch Mirror
Last updated: July 15, 2026
Notch Mirror is a macOS app that shows a live mirror from your camera in the area around your Mac’s notch. This policy explains what happens to your data when you use it.
Summary
Notch Mirror does not collect, store, transmit, or share any of your data. The camera image is shown to you live and never leaves your Mac.
The camera
- Notch Mirror uses your camera for one purpose only: to display a live preview on your own screen while the mirror is open. macOS asks for your permission the first time, and you can revoke it at any point in System Settings › Privacy & Security › Camera.
- The preview is ephemeral. Notch Mirror never records, saves, screenshots, photographs, or otherwise stores the camera image. Nothing is written to disk. When you close the mirror or quit the app, there is nothing left behind.
- Which camera you select (for example, a built-in, external, or Continuity Camera) is remembered on your Mac as a simple preference so the app can reopen with your choice. That preference stays on your device.
No network access
Notch Mirror has no network access and makes no internet connections. It is sandboxed without networking entitlements, so it is technically incapable of sending your camera image, or any information about you, anywhere — there is no code path that could.
Data collection
Notch Mirror does not collect:
- Personal information
- Photos, video, or any camera data
- Usage analytics or telemetry
- Crash reports (beyond what macOS itself may collect system-wide, which you control separately in System Settings)
- Any identifiers, advertising or otherwise
Notch Mirror has no accounts, no sign-in, and no server component of any kind.
Third parties
Notch Mirror does not integrate any third-party SDKs, analytics services, or advertising frameworks. Nothing is shared with anyone, because nothing is collected in the first place.
Children's privacy
Notch Mirror does not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children, for the reasons above.
Changes to this policy
If this policy ever changes — for example, if a future version of Notch Mirror adds a feature that does involve data collection — this document will be updated and the change will be reflected in the “Last updated” date above.
